Pastor's Message
In my devotional reading this morning, I read this statement by Grace Adolfsen Brame: “If Christ is born in our hearts, will the world ever feel it?”
I almost wish I hadn’t read that. I can’t get it out of my head and heart (her words, not Christ). What am I going to do with those words today and tomorrow and the next day and . . . .?
For now, though, I ask: what am I going to do about Christ in my heart today? Will my friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, strangers, et al, know that Christ is in my heart? Will it make a difference?
Hmmm.

Living and Responding Through Faith
Do 1 Thing
Family Promise - Interfaith Hospitality Network
FCUMC will be hosting homeless families through IHN the week of February 26. This is the first of three host weeks we have for 2012 – the others begin July 15 and October 7. This is a wonderful way to serve on a mission project right here in our church. Any talent or time you can share makes a difference in changing the lives of our guests and helps make them self-sufficient. We especially need volunteers willing to be overnight hosts and to lead recreational activities for children and youth. For more information, please contact Daniel Ogle at 689-6175 or dogle@fountaincityumc.org, Roby Trotter, Gordon Fowler or Woody Farrell.
Save the Date
April 21
This year, Operation InAsMuch will be on April 21. This one day mission service event brings many different churches together in Knoxville to go out and serve our communities. If you have a service project that needs to be on the list this year, please contact Kelley Flatford, kflatford@gmail.com.

Scout Sunday Observed
Sunday, February 12, FCUMC will observe Scout Sunday. The Boy Scouts of America celebrates its 101st anniversary on February 8. Here at FCUMC, Boy Scout
Troop 55 and Cub Scout Pack 55 thank the United Methodist Men at Fountain City for their support. Since reforming Pack 55 in 2007, the Cub Scout program has grown to over 40 youth. In 2010, Troop 55 was re-chartered continuing a rich heritage at the church. Today the troop has 11 boys enrolled.
Over the years, boys from both units have contributed to numerous civic service activities, camping opportunities, hikes, religious programs, and scout advancement. The Boy Scout programs teach ethical behavior, leadership training, a belief in God, as well as mental and physical fitness. The church’s two units meet on Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. For information contact either Sherri Smith (689-5175, ext 117), Tom Wells, Justin O’Hara, or Don Dare (633-6923) for details.
Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee is proud to announce the recipients of the 2012 Spring Semester scholarships. The following students are truly worthy of the recognition and support we can give as they pursue their college education.

To continue these financial scholarships for those pursuing education beyond high school, we are in need of contributions toward our scholarship fund. If you have any questions concerning gifts to this fund, please contact Dee Dee Seals or John Patterson in our church office at 689-5175.
