Pastor's Message

There is no doubt about it!  We live in a culture where there are increasing demands on our time.  Parents have to juggle between school, sports teams, music lessons, and time with friends.  Most adults have to figure out how to adequately balance time with family, work, and social opportunities. Quite often, people view being involved in church as “one more thing” that goes on the to-do list for the week.  I disagree with the idea that being involved in worship and spiritual growth opportunities at church are just one more thing that people have to cram in to their busy schedule.  It is the most important thing that we as Christians decide to do!

I love the fact that we gather each week as a congregation that is called Fountain City United Methodist Church.  Between the three worship services that we offer each week, we average between 600-675 people.  While this is good, it is hard for me to always rejoice when I realize that we have close to 1,900 people that are on our church role.  It is my desire that more people would choose to attend worship each week, not to make our numbers look better but so that more people would be connected to God in worship.

You may have heard me announce in worship this past Sunday that next Sunday is the unofficial “back to Fountain City United Methodist Church Sunday.”  We encourage you to be in worship and bring a friend with you.  If you know of someone that has not attended church in a while, call them up and invite them to come.  They just might say yes.  I look forward to seeing you in worship on Sunday!

Melissa
